Core Yoga is a Hatha yoga class with an emphasis on physical precision and energetic awareness of our core. Physically your core muscles extend from your pelvic floor, through your abdominal muscles, and up to your diaphragm. Your core muscles, along with your back muscles and buttocks, help compose your body’s powerhouse. This is the centre of your body’s strength, stability and movement.
The core is what supports us spiritually in our lives and physically in our yoga practice. A strong core makes us more resilient and builds an innate intelligence of our feelings, allowing us to feel, digest and move through emotions.
From a yogic perspective, the act of breathing is far closer to the core of who we are than any aspirations of a flat stomach. Our breath is our connection to life, and when this connection is unrestricted and strong, we are stronger, physically and mentally.
Core yoga is an exploration into finding deep core strength, through Pranayama (breathing exercises), asanas, (physical postures), meditations and guided visualisations. Each class concludes with a luxurious relaxation for body, mind and spirit.
