Your Teachers:

Shyamala Benakovic

My teaching style employs numerous styles of Hatha Yoga that I have learnt from all the wonderful teachers and gurus that have taken the time to teach me.   My teachers have been influenced by the teachings of Donna Farhi, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Bikram, Vinyasa, Tantra, Satyananda and Integral Yoga.   These practices and my background in Indian Classical Dance and Education, greatly informs my current teaching.

I encourage my students to listen to their bodies by leading them to develop body awareness and establish a relationship with their breath. My teaching language is designed to influence students to acquire a compassionate and joyful attitude towards themselves and to everything in their lives.

The practice I bring to my classes has a strong focus on Vinyasa flow with attention to the physicality and energetic intent of the asanas. My classes include the practice of Pranayama, Meditation and Relaxation from the very beginning. I believe that a holistic approach to yoga will help guide my students to investigate their true nature and explore their role in our Universe.
